Closed for the Season

Well, there goes another summer!

Summer of Dresses 2011 has come to an end. (Well, technically it came to an end on Monday, September 12 -- I'm just really behind on writing this farewell!)

Thanks for all your photos and comments this year. We'll re-open in Spring 2012!

In the meantime, you can keep the summer love alive by:
- Tweeting with #summerofdresses
- Following the Summer of Dresses board on Pinterest. Anyone with a Pinterest account can folow; if you want to pin to the board, follow me and let me know you want to contribute! Once we're connected, I can add you as a contributor to the board.
- Connect on our Facebook Page

Some of us have been kicking around the idea of having a dress swap/meetup/frocktails  in mid-winter as a way to keep summer alive in our hearts while the snow flies. Keep an eye on this site for more information as we work out the details. And let me know if you'd like to help plan it! This is a very loosely organized labor of love -- so any help is always welcomed and appreciated!

Thank You
My sincere thanks to everyone who contributed. This site is only fun if people actually send in photos -- we appreciate every single one!

Also, thanks to:
- Nicole Weiler (@nicycle), who had an idea to try to wear more dresses (which inspired the creation of this site) and who does most of the work of approving/moderating posts (and helping me delete MOUNTAINS OF SPAM).
- Angie King (@angiewarhol), whose enthusiasm for the site kept me smiling all summer long.
- Katie Dohman (@MNMOStyle) at Minnesota Monthly and Sara Glassman (@SaraRGlassman) at StarTribune who have both given us lovely press coverage both years (and helped build the community of people who post dresses).
- Patty Deuhs (@pattythesnugbug), who taught me that polka dots and cherry prints totally go together (and whose amazing outfits inspire me daily).
- Everyone else who posted and the many ladies that I have met or gotten to know better because of the site, like @cleverkate, @andcowlicks, @vruno, @CarpeDiemJBS and probably someone else I'm forgetting!
- Anyone who ever posted a photo on the site and came out to Frocktails!

Why, yes, those *are* Glitter TOMS you see on my feet. I wore heels for the ceremony but a girl's gotta be comfortable (and stylish).

Also, best bride ever:
1. She asked for me to have feathers in my hair for her wedding.
2. She found my dress on eBay, read the comments on the fit, researched how it looked on real women AND it was half the cost I had budgeted.

Love that girl.

Grand Ma and Grand Pa's 60th Anniversary and great weather were good reasons for Maria to wear her Easter dress again.

New York And Company?  Gap? Hardly. It's a creation of her big sister.  Off the rack? Perish the thought!

More flowers from me, the non-flower girl. Dress and shoes from Target, sweater from Old Navy, bag from an accessory shop in Mobara, Japan. Stunning backdrop (and delicious brunch) provided by the Modern Times Cafe in Minneapolis. --Monica
