Tips for Posting to Summer of Dresses
Here's how to have the best. post. ever.
Taking Photos
- In a pinch, a mirror photo works just fine. But, it's great if you can recruit someone to take a photo for you. Make sure the light is decent so we can see you in all your glory!
- Strike a pose. Seriously, girl. Channel your inner Naomi Campbell and try to get a little fierce. Or a little silly. Or...whatever.
Sending Photos
- Email your photo to summerofdresses@posterous.com. (Add that to your address book to make posting from your phone fast and easy!)
- Multiple photos? No problem. Attaching multiple photos creates a great little gallery in the post.
- The subject line of your email will be the post title, so be creative!
- EVERYTHING IN YOUR EMAIL will get posted to the blog. So, if your phone tacks on a little "Sent from my Android" that will be included. Or, if you're emailing from work and you have a signature with your phone number and some big ass crazy legal statement, that will be included. The other moderators and I try our best to delete that stuff, but we can't catch everything. So, double-check your email before you hit send!
- For extra fun, it's cool to tell people where you got your dress and accessories. Sometimes, it's just fun to know.
- As soon as a moderator approves it, your post will be live on summerofdresses.com. It will also be auto-posted to our Facebook page, and tweeted from @summerofdresses. Thumbnails also appear on the Pioneer Press Shopping & Style page.
- Pro tip: if you're on Twitter, include your handle in the email subject line. When the post is published on this site, you'll see an @reply to yourself when it goes live!
Other Stuff
- If you're on Pinterest, we have a Summer of Dresses board, just to collect dresses we think are cool. Because I set it up through my account, I need to follow you to add you to this board. Follow me (meghanwilker) on Pinterest, and then send me a note via the Summer of Dresses Facebook page or Twitter account (@summerofdresses) if you'd like me to add you as a contributor to the board!
Tell Your Friends
- The more, the merrier! Last year we got posts from all over the country; this year, let's try to get posts from all over the world!
